did find one individual who had been hit by the train and was pronounced dead at the scene. ironically, it was a police officer who was responding to the scene and somehow he got injured. he was transported from the scene with non life-threatening injuries. they have set up a bus bridge to owings mills mall because of the shutdown of the rail system. i am captain roy taylor. >> a new and disturbing motive is emerging tonight in the cafeteria shooting at perry hall high school. >> attorneys for robert gladden jr. now say he went to the school armed with a shotgun because expected and desired to be killed. david collins is live in towson tonight with more on the story. >> court testimony revealed that gladden is on a suicide

watch. he arrived in a black t-shirt with rock republic written on the back. according to his attorney, 15- year-old robert gladden went to perry hall high school armed with a shotgun and 21 rounds of ammo because he expected and desired to be killed. >> the primarily was motivated to commit suicide by cop. what he was doing was acting out in a terrible fashion in the hopes that somebody other than him would pull the trigger for him and he would then paris. >> one of his attorneys had previously said he took the gun to school to intimidate bullies and had no intention of pulling the trigger. baltimore county investigators could not confirm claims that gladden is a victim of bullying. 17-year-old daniel bowery -- daniel borowy suffered a gunshot wound to his back and was just

recently released from the hospital. according to the indictment, several others suffered minor injuries during the commotion. gladden looked just like this photo as he arrived at circuit court in towson for a bail review. he was charged with attempted first-degree murder. doctors examine his mental health. his attorneys tell the judge he is on a suicide watch. his attorneys asked for a postponement of the bail review until they had a chance to look at the doctors' report. they also asked the judge to order a report on his own life. they will use all that information to argue for bail. >> the base will begin the basic issue is the fact that he is -- the basic issue is that he can be rehabilitated. these are the kind of things the corps will be asked to consider it some point. >> according to his attorneys, he asked about daniel and

expressed relief when he was told that he was going to be ok. he also told his attorneys he would like to tell him in person how much he regrets his own behavior. >> meanwhile, baltimore county school officials are said to rollout a new building security plan that will be shared with teachers and top school staff. tim tooten is live in the newsroom with more on the story. you talked about metal detectors being used. is this plan -- >> the school superintendent says he wants to cast the net regarding safety and security. there have been two major gun incidents in baltimore county since the first day of school. one at perry hall high school in the school cafeteria, and just a few days ago, a student showed up with a loaded gun at stemmers run middle school, where he threatened his teacher and a class all of students.

school officials have called mandatory meetings with teachers and top staff from across the county to lay out a new approach to safety and security. >> tomorrow there will be information coming out that will help them to not only understand what their role is, but also to help the students understand what their role is. i believe a part of becoming out for the parents as well. >> an updated reporting system for staff and students, even an anonymous tip line, and they will talk about the role of a soon to be hired safety and security director. the teachers' union supports any training in place to help make schools safer. >> a lot of the issues have to do with warning times in advance and really paying attention, and knowing what to pay attention to. you can say a child comes to you and says so and so is doing this on facebook, i am concerned.

lex the lawyer for anne arundel county executive john leopold is calling for testing meat be the testimony to be tossed out. the accusations were first brought to light by the 11 news i-team. the lawsuit is called in material and important. he added they contain only sensationalized allegations about irrelevant matters than double hearsay. the lawsuit of recently named leopold and three other men of sexual harassment, creating a hostile workplace. he was also accused of using spies to detect this loyalty among county employees. >> for the most part, it is business as usual on the campus of morgan state university. a man was shot there are around this time last night, forcing the campus into lockdown. we have continuing coverage of the investigation. how do students seem to be reacting tonight, nadia?

>> we just got word that there is a rally about to start at any moment now on campus. students just say it is the united front to show that the shooting should never have happened here, so we expect that to start at any moment now. in the meantime, police were on campus here all night, going from building to building to make sure the gunman was no longer here. university officials say there is always room for improvement in the response. it is business as usual at morgan state university, just a day removed after a violent act forced the northeast baltimore campus on lockdown. the incident is still on the mind of students. >> everybody is like, you are walking past the student center, isn't that where the kid got shot? >> just before 5:00 p.m. wednesday.

university officials say neither the gunman nor the victim were students at the university and are calling it a target shooting. >> it definitely is useful because we know what areas to be around and what areas to stay away from when you are on campus. >> university officials say a number of students did not receive the e-mails rot away due to technical issues. >> what apparently happened was , the website reached overload yesterday as information started going out and people started logging on to the website. but it was back up quickly, and the logjam was fixed. >> overall, university officials are pleased with the response to the shooting but said there is always room for improvement. for instance, the morgan state president will meet with members of the cabinet and others to evaluate the school's response time to the incident. the president has reached out to baltimore city government and police department on campus

breaking news we told you about at the top of the hour from skyteam 11. police confirmed that a man has been struck and killed by a subway train in northwest baltimore. that happened at around 3:15 this afternoon at the metro station on wabash alabamavenue. services disrupted at this time. we will continue to follow the story for any more developments. a defense attorney for the baltimore county teenager who shot a classmate at perry hall high school said the decline was having -- was trying to have himself killed by police. 15-year-old robert gladden jr. is now on suicide watch. he faces 29 charges, including attempted murder. police have made an arrest in the case of the deadly mount vernon shooting last month. also shot was 56-year-old larry

>> yet another police officer in harford county has died. sgt ian loughran is the second in the line of duty who has passed away. the 43-year-old was attending a funeral service for a fellow deputy who passed away last week when he began suffering symptoms of a heart attack and passed away. the funeral for that day he was attending was a 14-year veteran

untapped wind energy resources, which means there are a lot of untapped sources for employment. research from the university delaware find maryland has potential for offshore wind energy that would translate into many barden jobs and stimulate the economy. the fda is warning consumers tonight about rare chemical burns reported by people using pain relief products like bengay and icy-hot. some of the birds have required hospitalization. the agency says consumers should stop using the pain relievers if they experience lines of skin injuries such as pain, swelling, or blistering of the skins. they are encouraging doctors to insure their patients on how to use those products safely. if you are planning to travel for thanksgiving, the flights will be cheap.
